UNDERSTANDING MARRIAGE

Text: Proverbs 14:1, Hebrews 13:4, Proverbs 24:3

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.
Hebrews 13:4
Marriage [is] honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers god will judge.
Proverbs 24:3
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established.
The bible says marriage is honourable, that means in marriage both parties are supposed to give each party honour. To many marriage means different things and that is why many enter marriage with wrong motives.
The importance of marriage can never be over emphasised. The failure of the home will always lead to the failure of the society. That is why it is very important that Christians take the issue of marriage very seriously.

Today’s parents are in deep mess and trouble because of the calibre of children raised today!
Many see marriage as a means to get love. Some see it as an avenue to be shown love. That is a wrong motive. Anything one starts in life with the wrong motive is bound to fail, it is a matter of time.

To some marriage means an opportunity to exercise authority, power, and dominion and be in control. This is the case of many men today. They turn their wives to punching bags or slaves in their home and their children who are coming up will follow suit.
To some others marriage is an escape route from pressures, may be pressures from parents, peers, friends etc. Some will not wait to hear from God or get married at the appointed time. Rather because they want to run away from pressures from people, they run into marriage as an escape route.

Note that marriages are not supposed to be built on expectations, but about responsibilities and the will of God.
Many are into marriage today to collect. They just have made up their mind to collect this, that and the other thing and once they are not seeing these things, the marriage will crash. That also is a wrong motive for marriage.

Selfishness and self-centeredness have destroyed many marriages today. Many believe they should be treated like kings but they are not ready to treat the woman as a queen. Note that a queen complements a king in his kingdom. A king cannot live in a palace without a queen!!
Many marriages are sick today because we want attention from our spouses, but we are not ready to give attention to them. Selfishness and self-centeredness was what destroyed the first marriage of Adam and eve. And it is killing many marriages today.

Many marriages are failing today due to wrong impression through fake packaging. Women are packaging and men are packaging.....wrong identity, fake life! A man is deceived with what he can see from the face value, and when he sees the real thing, he finds out he is deceived. Same also applies to men, men borrow and package to deceived women into marriages. Because such marriages a built on lies and deceit, it’s a matter of time before it crashes.
Another thing that as destroyed many marriages is what is called Marriage Illiteracy. That is lack of knowledge of what marriage is. Marriage is not what you think, but what God has ordained to be.

One of the problems of marriage that no man can correct is that marriage is the only school you get certificate even before you go for lectures.
God did not give us marriage for our sake, but for his kingdom. And that is why your marriage may decide if you make heaven at least or not. May God bless his word.

Prayers:
1. Every satanic agenda for my marriage scatter by fire in the name of Jesus.
2. Any power on evil assignment concerning my marriage, die in the name of Jesus.
3. Evil arrows in my marriage go back to sender in the name of Jesus.
4. My father by your mercy my marriage will not disappoint you in the name of Jesus.
